ModelSeal

Methodology

ModelSeal runs eight defined structural checks on Excel workbook content. It does not calculate formulas or interpret business assumptions. Each finding comes from a specific rule and points to a workbook condition that can be reviewed directly.

Current structural checks

MS001

Formula consistency

Flags formulas that break a repeated horizontal pattern.

MS002

Hardcoded overrides

Finds numeric values interrupting supported formula regions.

MS003

Broken references

Finds #REF! errors and references to missing worksheets.

MS004

External workbook links

Shows references to other Excel workbooks.

MS005

Formula error values

Finds Excel error constants embedded in formulas.

MS006

Hidden worksheets

Lists hidden and very hidden worksheets.

MS007

Missing formulas

Flags isolated blanks inside supported horizontal formula regions.

MS008

Hardcoded values in formulas

Identifies numeric constants entered directly inside formulas so they can be reviewed as possible embedded assumptions.

Structural Health Score

The score summarizes findings from four components: Formula Integrity (35 points), Reference Integrity (25), Formula Error Safety (25), and Workbook Transparency (15). Each component floors at zero and the total remains between 0 and 100.

Limits of the review

Findings flag observable conditions for investigation. ModelSeal does not calculate formulas, infer business intent, verify assumptions, assess forecast accuracy, judge accounting treatment, evaluate investment merit, or guarantee that a workbook is error-free. Pattern checks are horizontal and intentionally conservative, so legitimate exceptions may be reported and unsupported structures may be missed.
